UMHB blanks McMurry's men, 5-0

ABILENE, Texas – Chris Torres scored two goals and Mary Hardin-Baylor used three goals in the second period to shutout McMurry 4-0 Friday afternoon at Edwards Field in American Southwest Conference action.

Torres scored on a header in the eighth minute to give the Crusaders an early advantage. From there, McMurry kept UMHB at bay until halftime. However, in the second half, the Crusaders opened the floodgates and out-shot McMurry 17-4 in the second half.

Garrett Graham scored in the 49th minute after several deflections from the McMurry defense on a cross that the home team couldn't clear to make the score 2-0 and Bo Baker added a penalty kick for UMHB just 1:44 later. Then, Torres added the match's final goal in the 69th minute another header on a pass from Daniel Gable.

Mark Miller recorded the shutout for Mary Hardin-Baylor and had five saves while Matt Mouer had seven saves for McMurry in the losing effort.

UMHB improved to 10-2 overall and 7-2 in league play while McMurry fell to 1-12 overall and 1-7 in ASC play.
