RICHARDSON, Texas – UT-Dallas proved its No. 18-national ranking Friday afternoon making quick work of McMurry University by defeating the visitors 25-18, 25-16, 25-14. Kailey Killingsworth and Dana Hilzendager had 17 and 16 kills respectively to help the Comets sweep McMurry in just 57 minutes.

McMurry was held to just a .041 hitting percentage while the Comets hit .231. Defensively, Hilzendager had three total blocks and 12 digs while Amber Wetz and Shelby Murphy had 13 and 12 digs respectively to lead UT-Dallas' defensive charge.

In the losing effort, McMurry's Bailey Marcum had six kills while M.J. Vickers had five kills and nine digs.

Friday's loss was the first of three matches for McMurry at the American Southwest Conference Tournament. The team will play matches Saturday against East Texas Baptist and LeTourneau.

McMurry dropped to 7-7 overall on the season while McMurry improved to 11-1 on the year.
