Box Score

ALPINE - McMurry swept Sul Ross State in three sets Saturday at the Gallego Center, however, more importantly, Hardin-Simmons' win over Schreiner gives McMurry its third-straight trip to the American Southwest Conference Volleyball Postseason Tournament in Richardson Friday.

McMurry finished the regular season with a 17-11 record and a 12-6 mark against ASC competition and took the third and final spot for the ASC Tournament beginning Friday on the campus of UT-Dallas.

Schreiner's win over McMurry Wednesday night gave them the opportunity to take the third seed from the ASC West Division if the Mountaineers were able to beat Hardin-Simmons Saturday in Kerrville. However, the Cowgirls defeated Schreiner in five sets to take the regular season ASC West title.

Against the Lobos Saturday, Terah Brown and Danielle Kelton each had eight kills while Sarah Anding's 13 digs helped pace McMurry to a 25-9, 25-18, 25-19 win over Sul Ross State.

McMurry hit .256 as a team and held the Lobos to a negative hitting percentage at a -.080 mark. Sul Ross also suffered nine serve receive errors. Brooke Bankston had five kills in the losing effort for the Lobos.

Brown hit .700 for the match, and on 10 total attacks, she had just one error. Kelton hit .263 and narrowly missed a double-double with eight digs. Bennie Smith had 10 digs while Kelsey Campbell led the team with 21 assists. Smith also chipped in six kills and Bailey Marcum had five.

McMurry as the No. 3 West seed will face East Texas Baptist (No. 2 East seed) Friday in Richardson with the time to be determined.
