SHERMAN - McMurry University got revenge on both the University of Dallas and Austin College Saturday with wins over both teams after falling to each school Sept. 5.
M.J. Vickers combined for 33 kills and
Sarah Anding combined for 45 digs to help McMurry defeat the University of Dallas 3-0 and Austin College 3-1.
The University of Dallas defeated McMurry 3-1 Sept. 5, but Saturday at the Austin College Tournament, McMurry swept UD 25-16 25-22, 25-20. Vickers had 15 kills and
Sarah Anding had 17 digs to lead McMurry.
Then, McMurry closed the tournament with a 26-14, 14-25, 25-23, 25-21 victory over the hosts, AC. On Sept. 5, the 'Roos had swept McMurry 3-0 and held a national ranking, however, McMurry was the better team Saturday using a balanced effort to move to 16-10 overall on the season.
Vickers had 18 kills in the win over the 'Roos while
Bennie Smith had 13 and
Terah Brown had 11. Vickers added a double-double with 16 digs to accompany her offensive numbers. Smith did the same with 10 digs and Anding led the squad with 28 and
Danielle Kelton added 20.
Carmyn Wingrove had 27 assists and
Kelsey Campbell added 19.
McMurry will play its final two regular season games of the season beginning with Wednesday's American Southwest Conference match against Schreiner in Kerrville.
