BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets left McMurry winless in American Southwest Conference play with a 3-0 victory Friday afternoon. HPU's Jamie Benitez scored two goals in the first
half to help lead the home team to its seventh league victory of the season.

Benitez scored in the 16th minute on an assist from Dennis Benitez and then scored again in the 21st minute unassisted to put the Yellow Jackets up 2-0. In the second half with time winding down, Chris Martinez added a goal on an assist from Brice Reusink in the 89th minute for the game's final goal.

HPU out-shot McMurry 18-7 and the Yellow Jackets' Francisco Medina helped shutout the visitors with two saves. Travis Allen and Joseph Jaques had the only two shots on goal for McMurry.

The loss was McMurry's sixth-straight and dropped the team to 2-9-3 overall and 0-7-3 in league play. McMurry will look for conference win No. 1 against Mary Hardin-Baylor Saturday at 3 p.m.
