The Pirates posted five runs in the 5th and seven runs in 7th inning to move McMurry to 2-5 on the season.
Wes Willis threw four innings for Southwestern giving up six runs including four earned as McMurry was able to take and early 6-3 lead in the top of the fourth. However, in the bottom of the fourth, the Pirates tied the game before pouring in the offense in the 5th and 7th innings.
Joe Lange picked up the win for the Pirates after tossing a scoreless inning in the fifth, then Wes Churchwell went the rest of the way for Southwestern picking up his first save of the year and allowing four runs (two earned) in the final four innings. Churchwell struck out five and walked only one.
Dakota Smith opened the game on the mound for McMurry. He allowed just one hit, two runs (one earned) and struck out one. However, he walked four and lasted just three innings. Following Smith, head coach Lee Driggers went to five different relievers who all gave up at least two runs.

Southwestern's Eric Gonzales drove in three runs and John Wooten had the only home run of the game for the Pirates in the 5th inning with a 2-run shot off McMurry's Blaine Wieck.
McMurry will try to get back to its winning ways this weekend against Austin College. The doubleheader begins Saturday at 1 p.m. and the series will conclude Sunday with a single game at 1 p.m. Southwestern improved to 2-4 on the year.
