Biography

Former McMurry standout catcher and All-Region selection Reed Hodges returned to his alma mater as a member of the War Hawks baseball coaching staff, bringing with him a strong background in player development, program operations, and athlete performance training.

Hodges joined the McMurry staff after establishing himself within the Central Texas baseball community as a Head Coach and Assistant Director of Baseball Operations for Marucci Elite Texas. In that role, he oversaw program logistics, developed team practice plans, managed player registration and communication, and led on-field instruction across multiple age levels. His leadership in that program was marked by his emphasis on detailed player development and consistency in team culture.

In addition to his work with Marucci Elite, Hodges has served as Assistant Director of Strength & Conditioning and Lead Catching Instructor for Nuclear Baseball Training in Leander, Texas, where he directed offseason training programs and helped athletes prepare for collegiate-level competition. He also spent multiple summers working in the Tejas Collegiate Baseball League, where he coordinated team data collection, handled in-game management, and produced digital media content for player exposure.

Prior to his return to McMurry, Hodges also gained experience at the high school level as an Assistant Coach at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School (Austin, TX) and as Associate Director and Head Coach for Dirtbags Baseball, guiding team operations, practice structures, and player evaluations.

Playing Career

A four-year member of the McMurry University baseball program (2018–2022), Hodges was one of the most decorated catchers in program history. He was named First Team All-Conference (ASC) and Second Team All-Region (D3baseball.com) in 2022 while also earning multiple Academic All-Conference and Dean’s List honors. Known for his leadership, defensive skillset, and knowledge of the game, Hodges helped set the foundation for McMurry’s continued success behind the plate.

Personal
A native of Round Rock, Texas, Hodges remains active in player development throughout Central Texas and continues to mentor catchers and position players through year-round training. His experience as both a collegiate athlete and coach provides a valuable bridge between the classroom, the weight room, and on-field performance for McMurry’s student-athletes.
