Biography
Since joining the McMurry University baseball coaching staff, Boardman Adams has emerged as one of the region’s young pitching minds and recruiters, helping elevate the War Hawks’ pitching development and recruiting pipelines to new heights. Serving as both Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator, Adams plays an instrumental role in the program’s continued rise within NCAA Division III baseball.

A specialist in pitcher development, Adams has implemented advanced data-driven training systems utilizing Rapsodo and YakkerTech technology, daily pitching protocols, and individualized development plans to maximize performance across the War Hawks’ pitching staff. In his tenure, McMurry pitchers have earned 14 All-Conference selections, including All-Region and All-Defensive Region 10 honors for standout right-hander Hunter Poe (2025). His pitchers played a big part in McMurry’s historic 2025 campaign, which culminated in a 35–13 record, a #16 national ranking, and the program’s first NCAA Regional Championship.

As Recruiting Coordinator, Adams oversees McMurry’s recruiting strategy and national player database, helping identify and attract high-character, high-talent student-athletes who align with the War Hawk standard. His organizational systems, evaluation tools, and personal relationships across the country have helped solidify McMurry’s reputation as a growing destination for elite Division III talent.

Summer Coaching Experience
Outside of McMurry, Adams has built an extensive summer-league résumé developing elite collegiate players across some of the nation’s top developmental circuits. He served as Pitching Coach for the St. Cloud Rox in the prestigious Northwoods League (2019), where the team finished among league leaders in strikeouts (564) and opponent batting average (.224), producing multiple All-NWL selections and professional signees, including players who went on to the Cincinnati Reds, New York Mets.

He also coached with the Brazos Valley Bombers in the Texas Collegiate League (2020), contributing to the Bombers’ TCL Championship season (22–11) while mentoring future professional pitchers such as Bryce Miller (Seattle Mariners), Chandler Jozwiak (Miami Marlins), Dustin Saenz (Washington Nationals), and Will Johnston (Oakland Athletics).
Earlier in his career, Adams served as Head Coach and General Manager for the Conway Cadets in the Beach Collegiate Baseball League (BCBL), winning back-to-back league championships (2017 & 2018) and earning BCBL Coach of the Year honors in 2017. His teams produced more than 20 All-BCBL players while leading the league in pitching across multiple seasons.

Adams’ blend of analytical insight, recruiting vision, and developmental experience has made him a key pillar in McMurry’s modern baseball era — combining cutting-edge player development with the tradition and culture that define War Hawk Baseball.

Personal
A native of Roanoke, Texas, Adams brings a relentless work ethic and enthusiasm for player development that mirrors his own journey through the collegiate baseball ranks. Beyond McMurry, he continues to mentor players through his role as Recruiting Director for Texas Angels Baseball, helping guide hundreds of high school athletes to collegiate opportunities nationwide. He is married to his wife, Dezeray and they have a son, James Paul (JP) Adams, age 4.
