Bryan Rainwater

When McMurry University began its search for a new tennis coach in July 2018, the journey did not need to go very far, as former assistant tennis coach and standout tennis player Bryan Rainwater was elevated to the head coach position. He has held this position for two seasons.

Rainwater has also handled the University's NCAA compliance duties since 2015 and was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director in April 2020.

The start of Rainwater's second season at the helm got off to a strong start in the fall of 2019, as Carlos Martinez and Chase Daniell won the ITA Southwest Regional in doubles, and competed at the ITA Championships in Rome, Georgia.

In the Spring of 2020, the McM women started 8-4 while the men were 5-9 in a shortened campaign that was canceled before conference play began.

In his first season as head coach in 2018-19, the McM men went 5-12 overall and 2-4 in the ASC. Carlos Martinez and Chase Daniell were named second team All-ASC in doubles. For the McM women, the War posted a winning mark of 10-9, 4-2 ASC and qualified for the ASC Tournament. Four players earned spots on the All-ASC teams while senior Samantha Ritz was tabbed as McM's female Medal of Honor recipient.

During his tenure as an assistant, Rainwater has helped elevate the War Hawks' programs to a position of contention every season. As a player, Rainwater was a part of McMurry's back-to-back ASC divisional championships in 2009 and 2010.

Before assuming the role as an assistant coach for McM, Rainwater enjoyed a stellar career in the Maroon & White from 2007-2011. He voted first team All-American Southwest Conference West Division honoree – all four seasons – at both singles and doubles. In 2008, he was the ASC West Newcomer of the Year award winner. He compiled a career singles record of 47-28 and a doubles mark of 54-24.

Rainwater is from Fort Stockton, Texas and is married to McMurry University Admissions Counselor Mallory Rainwater.
