Perks, who arrived in Abilene in August 2023, joins Coach Long’s staff after being a graduate assistant at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. As a graduate and former player for the Mustangs, he was instrumental in the growth and success of their program. While with the Mustangs, Perks helped coach the junior varsity program while also serving as a graduate assistant for the varsity program. He helped develop one honorable mention All-American and three all-conference selections during his time. Perks received a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in May 2021 and a Master’s in strategic leadership in May 2023 from Mount Mercy.
“We are excited to have Jacob join the War Hawk family,” Long noted. “He came highly recommended by those I trust, and I know he will be a great fit for us. He’s a basketball guy who builds relationships and develops players on and off the floor.”
