Lauren Williams

  • Title
    Assistant Softball Coach

Abilene native Lauren Williams has been tabbed as the first-ever assistant softball coach for McMurry University’s inaugural team, which begins play in the spring of 2018.  Williams, a graduate of Abilene High School (2013), is reunited with her former mentor David McNally, who was tabbed to lead the War Hawks’ program last spring.

Williams was a two-sport athlete for the Eagles, playing both softball and basketball. She was a varsity member three years in each sport.

Williams also helped run the Abilene High Summer Softball Camp from 2013-16. She was an assistant coach for the 16-under Blue Sox Fastpitch Softball team in 2016.

After her high school graduation, Williams was the starting catcher for four seasons at Hardin-Simmons University. She holds the Cowgirls’ records for runners caught stealing and runners picked off. Additionally, she ranks No. 5 for home runs and No. 6 for runs batted in on HSU’s all-time list.

Williams’ family has a rich local tradition. Her mother Teresa is a retired AISD school teacher. Her grandparents – Sonny and Colette Goode – are members of the McMurry Athletics Hall of Honor.

Williams graduated from HSU in 2017, earning her bachelor’s degree in fitness, recreation and sports management. She had a minor in English.
