McMurry University Athletics

The feared outside shooter returns for her senior year after a stellar junior campaign where she earned all-ASC accolades.  Should continue to see playing time at foreard. 

2007-08 Season:  Was an all-ASC West Division honorable mention selection as she averaged 9.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.  Played in all 30 games and started 29 for McMurry.  Shot 54 percent from the field including 53 percent from behind the arc (led McMurry in both of those categories).  Nelson was also the most accurate free throw shooter for McMurry as she made 79 percent of her shots from the charity stripe.  2006-07 Season: Played in all 29 games and started the final 26 on her way to honorable mention all-ASC West Honors. Third on the team in scoring at 9.9 points per game and averaged 5.2 rebounds per game. She shot 49.4 percent from the field and connected on 19 of 45 3-pointers on the season. She missed just two free throws and was 30 of 32 from the charity stripe. Played key roles in victories over nationally-ranked Hardin-Simmons and Howard Payne. On Dec. 4 against HSU, she scored 18 points and then scored 18 points against Howard Payne at home. Scored a season-high 21 points against Schreiner at home Jan. 20. Was named academic all-conference. 2005-06 Season: Played in 24 games as a freshman and averaged 3.6 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. Scored in double figures on three different occasions and had a season-high 12 points against Sul Ross State Jan. 14. Shot 45.6 percent from the field and was 18 of 24 (.750) from the free-throw line. High School: Was a first-team all district selection all four years for Winnsboro High School under head coach Buddy Hawkins. Helped her team to the state tournament in her last two seasons and her junior year helped Winnsboro to the championship game. Earned two letters in cross country.
