A strong guard who should see playing time at either guard spot. Northwestern Oklahoma State: Played two years for coach Bob Batista at the NAIA school. Averaged six points and two assists per contest for the 2007 season as he helped lead Northwestern Oklahoma State to an Elite Eight appearance in the NAIA tournament. High School: Two-year letterwinner for coach Gary Taylor at Mesquite High School. Was a first-team all-state selection for 5A his senior year as he averaged 17 points, six rebounds and four assists a game. Burney was a team captain his senior year as he helped lead Mesquite to the regional semifinal round where they loss to Richardson Berkner. Personal: 2006 graduate of Mesquite High School. Born 19 Feb. 1988.
