SHERMAN, Texas  McMurry Women's Soccer opened the season in commanding fashion Friday evening, securing a 3-0 road shutout against Austin College at the Pierce Complex.

The War Hawks got on the board early in the 12th minute when Halin Griffith beat the opposing keeper to give McMurry a 1-0 advantage.

McMurry carried that momentum straight into the second half, doubling the margin in the 51st minute on an unassisted strike from Charley Goff.

Madison Black capped the afternoon's scoring in the 68th minute, tucking home the War Hawks' third goal to put the contest well out of reach.

McMurry controlled the run of play throughout, out-shooting the host 16-7 and holding a decisive 9-2 edge in shots on goal. Cadence Foulkrod played all 90 minutes between the posts, stopping both shots on target to earn the clean sheet in the season opener.

Hailey Andrle paced the attack with three shots, while Genevieve Dorasami and Haley Withers each registered two attempts. Hailey Donaldson, Ava Camp, and Macie Griffin also forced saves from the host's goalkeeper to keep the offensive pressure unrelenting.

The War Hawks return to action on Tuesday, September 8th, hosting Texas Lutheran for their home opener at 6:00 p.m.
