ABILENE, Texas - McMurry Women's Soccer delivered an emphatic home conference performance on Saturday, breaking open a tight match with five second-half goals to defeat Schreiner 6-0 at Wilford Moore Stadium.
The War Hawks opened the scoring early in the 10th minute when
Genevieve Dorasami found the back of the net unassisted for a 1-0 lead. Goalkeeper
Cadence Foulkrod kept the advantage through the break, making four first-half saves to keep the visitors off the scoresheet.
McMurry's attack ignited in the second half.
Laila Brown doubled the margin in the 58th minute, putting away her team-leading fifth goal of the season off a feed from
Audrey Pool.
Ava Camp widened the gap in the 69th minute with an unassisted strike to make it 3-0.
Under two minutes later, McMurry drew a foul in the box, and
Hailey Donaldson stepped up to convert a penalty kick in the 70th minute.
The War Hawks kept pushing late in regulation.
Hayle Heinen added McMurry's fifth goal unassisted in the 79th minute. Heinen then set up
Macie Griffin in the 86th minute, who capped the scoring with her second goal of the season.
McMurry outshot Schreiner 15-8 and put nine shots on target.
Cienna Rodriguez and Brown led the attack with three shots each, while Camp, Donaldson, and Griffin tallied two apiece. In goal, Foulkrod stopped all seven shots on target across 90 minutes to claim the complete-game shutout.
McMurry will next head to Belton to play Mary Hardin-Baylor on October 8th at 5:00 p.m.
