SHREVEPORT- McMurry men's basketball team gets another big win in conference play as they take down Centenary on the road by a score of 69-66.
McMurry improved to 6-14 overall & 4-7 in conference play, while Centenary dropped to 6-14 overall & 4-8 in conference play.
McMurry was led by Josh Alcocer with 17 points & followed by Jalen Cherry with 12. Matt Pena had a big weekend as he became the all time leader for McMurry in 3 pointers with 253, & also eclipsed the 1000 point mark in his career.
Centenary led the game at the half by a score of 32-28, but as we've seen before, McMurry was not going to go away easily.
The second half was much better for the War Hawks as they would put up 41 points in the half. McMurry shot 47.5% from the field, & 31.6% from 3, out-performing the Gents in both categories. The War Hawks also got 19 points from their bench and 10 fast break points.
McMurry will look to get a pair of big wins next week to keep their momentum going as they take on University of Dallas on Saturday & Austin College on Sunday at home.
