War Hawks defeat Concordia on buzzer beater.

McMurry University's War Hawks won the season finale 83-81 over Concordia University Saturday, Feb. 17 in Austin.

Coach Zach Pickelman's team was down 47-37 at halftime but roared back to take the second half 46-34.

Sophomore guard Coco Rose (Odessa, Texas) led the way with 21 points, followed by senior guard CJ LeBlanc (Dallas, Texas) and senior forward/center Elias Garcia (Houston, Texas) with 17 each, and junior guard Matt Pena (El Paso, Texas) with 11.

Garcia had a double double as he also finished with 11 rebounds, five on offense and six on defense. Junior forward Josh Alcocer (San Antonio, Texas) had seven rebounds, one on offense and six on defense.

The War Hawks nailed 15 three-pointers with five from LeBlanc, three apiece from Pena and Rose, two from Alcocer, and one apiece from freshman guard Jack Bommarito (Denton, Texas) and Garcia. At the free-throw line, Garcia was 6 of 7 while senior guard/forward Rob Charles (Houston, Texas), LeBlanc and Rose were all 2 of 2. Charles had six assists and Rose contributed five. McMurry stole the ball 10 times with Alcocer, Rose and LeBlanc getting two thefts each, and Bommarito, Pena, Holden and Garcia adding one apiece. Freshman forward Tristan Holden (San Antonio, Texas) blocked three shots, and junior forward TJ Hilliard (New Orleans, Louisiana) and Alcocer blocked one each.

The War Hawks were able to win the game with a last second buzzer beater from Junior Josh Alcocer for the win.

McMurry finished 10-15 overall and 4-10 in the American Southwest Conference.
