HUNTSVILLE – McMurry stayed with NCAA Division I Sam Houston for much of the exhibition game before falling 75-53 on Thursday.
 
After falling behind 22-9 in the first quarter, the War Hawks outscored their hosts in the second but trailed 35-23 at the half. McMurry was able to cut the lead into single digits on a few occasions in the second half but 30 turnovers proved too much to overcome.
 
Kylie Flippin had 19 points and Helana Chadwick added 12. Aryana Cleveland led McMurry with seven rebounds and Emily Holland added four assists.
 
The War Hawks return to their regular schedule on Dec. 13 when Howard Payne visits for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
