LONGVIEW – McMurry had a lead with 15 seconds left in overtime but a foul and a turnover in the last 10 seconds led Concordia-Chicago to the 103-100 overtime win in Longview on Friday.
Sunny Parker hit a free throw for the 100-98 lead with 15 seconds remaining in overtime but a McM foul with 10 seconds left put CUC on the line for two free throws that tied the game. A quick steal led to a last-second bucket by Joel Watts for the game-winner.
Matt Pena blocked a last-second shot to get McMurry to the overtime period with the score tied at 90.
TJ Hilliard led McMurry with 29 points, followed by Pena with 16 and
D'Von Turner with 15. Hilliard had six assists and Pena added five.
Jalen Cherry led the War Hawks with 11 rebounds and four steals.
McMurry return to the court in Longview on Saturday, taking on Sewanee at 1 p.m.
