ABILENE, TEXAS – The friendly confines of Edwards Field was just what the doctor ordered Friday, April 21.
Senior hurlers
Jenna Lewis (Hearne, Texas) and
Kinleigh Stotts (Covington, Texas) allowed just one Concordia University-Austin run to cross home plate at Edwards Field. Lewis was touched for only four singles and struck out eight in a game-one 2-0 gem, while Stotts didn't allow a Tornado baserunner to reach third base after giving up a second-inning round-tripper in a well-pitched 5-1 victory.
Head coach
David McNally's War Hawks reached 20 wins for a second successive season. Junior outfielder
Jesse Stephenson (Marble Falls, Texas) led the offense in game one, going two-for-two with a run scored and RBI. Freshman first baseman
Bre Barajas (Abilene, Texas) singled and drove in two runs; junior outfielder
Angelica Abila (Lubbock, Texas) was two-for-four with two runs scored; Stephenson wound up a big evening with a hit, run scored, and RBI; and freshman second baseman
Trista Brown went one for two with an RBI to spotlight an efficient scoring attack in the nightcap.
McMurry (20-10, 12-8 American Southwest Conference) winds up the three-game set with Concordia Saturday, April 22. Game time is 12 p.m.
