Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Late run moves Eagles past War Hawks, 87-80

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – McMurry Men's Basketball had an entertaining road matchup at University of the Ozarks Tuesday night in Arkansas, but slipped in the final 10 minutes of an 87-80 loss in American Southwest Conference action.

The War Hawks fall to 7-12 overall and 5-9 in conference play. Despite the loss, McMurry remains sixth place in the ASC standings. Meanwhile, Ozarks moves into the top eight at 8-10 overall and 5-10 in the ASC.

Much like the first game between the two sides, a 77-74 win by Ozarks in December, it was a see-saw battle throughout with 15 lead changes. The tide began to turn with 9:18 to go, as the Eagles went on a 10-2 run to break a 59-59 tie and never looked back.

Despite being out-shot, McMurry dominated certain categories, including a 15-4 advantage on the offensive boards, an 18-9 advantage in opponent turnovers, a 13-2 advantage in second chance points and an 18-4 advantage in points off turnovers.

Ozarks overcame those statistics with efficient shooting, going 32-59 from the field, 7-19 behind the arc and 16-22 from the line. McMurry had more opportunities and more shots made, going 33-86 from the field, but went 6-34 behind the arc and 8-16 from the line.

Sophomore Michael Imariagbe finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds for his 12th career double-double and his eighth this season. CJ LeBlanc added 17 points and four helpers, while Remy Minor chipped in 14 points.

Kyron Powell and Kamren Roelke combined for 42 points to lead Ozarks.

McMurry's road to one of eight ASC tournament berths continues Thursday, Feb. 10 at LeTourneau. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. in Longview, Texas.
