FIRST HALF SCORE SENDS WAR HAWKS TO .500 IN ASC

ABILENE, TEXAS – ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University claimed a 1-0 victory over LeTourneau University in American Southwest Conference action Thursday, October 6, at Wilford Moore Stadium.
 
The War Hawks took the lead in the first 25 minutes of the match, with a goal from sophomore forward Emily Holland (Mansfield, Texas) assisted by freshman defender Katie Wilson (Liberty Hill, Texas).
 
"As a coach, I am so proud of our team," head coach Charles Noble said. "Our girls had to overcome much adversity in today's game. In overcoming those struggles, we saw the growth in maturity and fight to win."
 
The Yellow Jackets put up a physical battle, with four fouls in the game. Though, the War Hawks controlled the field, allowing only one Yellow Jacket shot on goal throughout the entirety of the match.
 
The War Hawks were able to make opportunities happen, firing off nine shots, with three on goal. Senior forward Kara Moore (Azle, Texas) entered the game determined, getting a shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match. Defensively, Junior goalkeeper Priscella Caruso, compiling her third career shutout, recorded one save through 90 minutes.
 
McMurry continues at home for its next match-up, hosting East Texas Baptist on Saturday, Oct 8. Kick-off Is scheduled for 5 p.m.
