Women's soccer falls to Comets in quarterfinal, 1-0

RICHARDSON, Texas – The McMurry University Women's Soccer team closed out its season with a close battle against the No. 1 seed University of Texas at Dallas, dropping in the quarterfinal round of the American Southwest Conference playoffs by a score of 1-0 Thursday afternoon. The War Hawks finished the season with a record of 2-5-1, while the Comets improved to 6-0. 

The War Hawks trailed early in the matchup, unable to find the net after an early score by the ASC East champions in the first half.

Assisted by Keely Fillman, junior Sofia Munoz scored the game winning goal in the 14th minute for the Comets, a lone goal that would withstand for the duration of the game.

UTD recorded five saves in goal to earn the win verses McMurry's two.

Despite the loss, McMurry out-shot UTD by an 17-6 margin for the match, five of which where on goal. The Comets recorded three on goal.

McMurry also had six corner kicks in the contest while holding the Comet's to zero attempts.

Sophomore Alyssa Daily led the War Hawk offense in total shots with five - one on goal - while junior Ashland Hansen led the team with two on target. Junior's Meriah Sikora and Tagan Hansen both added a shot on goal for the War Hawks as well.
