ABILENE, Texas – McMurry Women's Basketball finished the first half of its schedule with local matinee on Tuesday, playing an exhibition at Abilene Christian University inside the Teague Center. The Wildcats won 93-35.
Tuesday's game does not count toward McMurry's record, but the win does count for ACU. The Wildcats improve to 8-3 overall.
The War Hawks – led by former ACU Deputy Director of Athletics Drew Long – had 17 players gain valuable experience against an NCAA Division I opponent. Today marked Long's first game as McMurry's head coach at his former stomping grounds.
True freshman Emily Holland shined for the War Hawks with 14 points, going 5-11 from the field and 3-7 behind the arc against a tough defense. She also led the team with 33 minutes.
McMurry begins the 2022 portion of the schedule at home on Jan. 6 against UT Dallas. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. inside Kimbrell Arena.
