SAN ANTONIO – McMurry University brought in the new year with one final game before American Southwest Conference play begins, falling to NCAA Division I opponent Incarnate Word in an exhibition on Friday, 81-54.
Like yesterday's game, this contest does not count toward McMurry's record. UIW moves to a 3-4 record ahead of Southland Conference play next week.
Freshman forward Michael Imariagbe led the War Hawks with 14 points, adding another dimension to his game today by shooting 4-5 behind the arc.
Sophomore guard Shaydon Campbell finished with nine points, while sophomore guard Rob Charles matched yesterday's total with eight points. Junior forward DJ Worrell also added eight with five rebounds.
The War Hawks (0-4) will begin fresh next week, opening ASC play on the road against East Texas Baptist on Thursday, Jan. 7 in Marshall, Texas. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
