ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University Softball was unable to take game three for LeTourneau University, falling 14-4 to the Yellow Jackets in the final game of the series Saturday afternoon at Red Bud Park.
The Yellow Jackets (5-0, 3-0 ASC) scored twice in the first and four times in the second to open up a 6-0 lead on the War Hawks (5-6, 0-3 ASC). McMurry got one run back in the second on an RBI by outfielder Summer Quiroga.
However, the LeTourneau offense proved to be too much, repeating their success in the third and fourth innings along with two in the fifth. The Yellow Jackets again hit four home runs in the game.
The War Hawks added a single tally in the third on an RBI walk by Eva Pourcio, and tried to extend the game in the fifth, but came up short as Quiroga and infielder Avery McDaniel had RBI singles in the frame.
Hope Schoeneman took the loss for the War Hawks, allowing eight runs (three earned) in 2.1 innings.
McMurry will look to get back on track next weekend when it visits Hardin-Simmons for a three-game series beginning Friday at 1 p.m.
