Women’s Soccer drops regular season finale at Hardin-Simmons

ABILENE, Texas – The McMurry University women's soccer team ended its regular season at Hardin-Simmons on Friday evening, falling 2-0 to the American Southwest Conference regular season champions at the HSU Soccer Complex.

McMurry ends the regular season with a 11-3-6 overall record and a 6-3-2 mark in conference play…the best record in program history. Furthermore, McMurry will host a first round ASC Championship game for the first time in history this postseason.

With the win, Hardin-Simmons (14-2-1, 11-0) not only locks up the top seed for the tournament, but keeps a 54-game unbeaten streak alive in regular season conference play. HSU has not lost a regular season ASC match since 2015.

A pair of tough-luck goals from HSU's Taylor Bernal separated the Cowgirls in the first half in what was otherwise a fairly-even contest. McMurry was edged 10-9 in the shot category while putting two shots on goal.

Alyssa Daily attempted three shots to lead McMurry, including one on frame. Facing her former team, sophomore Brianna Caudle had her lone shot attempt saved in the 19th minute, which would have served as the tying goal at the time.

Senior goalkeeper Jordan Gregory had three saves for McMurry, playing her first full 90:00 of the season.

The first round of the ASC Women's Soccer Championship takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. as No. 4 McMurry will host No. 5 LeTourneau at Wilford Moore Stadium.
