War Hawks take unbeaten record on the road

ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University Women's Soccer looks to keep its unbeaten streak to start the season alive as the War Hawks head on the road this weekend for a pair of American Southwest Conference matches.

Thursday sees the War Hawks visit LeTourneau University for a 5 p.m. kickoff, with McM heading to East Texas Baptist University Saturday for a 5 p.m. start time. Live stats and video links for both games can be found on mcmurrysports.com.

NOTES:

LAST WEEK: McMurry started conference play 2-0 after defeating Belhaven University, 5-1, and Louisiana College, 7-0, at Wilford Moore Stadium last weekend.

DAILY HONORED: After scoring four goals in the win over Louisiana College and one against Belhaven, freshman forward Alyssa Daily was honored with her first ASC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award.

HAT TRICKS: The War Hawks had not one, but two hat tricks in their wins last weekend. Junior midfielder Sky Reynolds had the first hat trick against Belhaven, with Daily coming up with one of her own Saturday while adding a fourth goal.

UNBEATEN: McMurry has started the season at 7-0-4. With 11 straight games to start the season without a loss, it shatters the old program record of four games, set in 2013.

RECORD BREAKERS?: With two wins this weekend, the War Hawks can set a new program record with nine wins. They have scored 35 goals and have 25 assists already this season, each just four shy of those records, as well. The 95 points are only 12 off the record of 107 set in 2014. They have already set a new record with five shutouts.

ASC LEADERS: The War Hawks are second in the ASC in shots per game, points, goals, assists and shutouts. Individually, Daily leads the ASC in shots, points and goals.

SCOUTING LETU: LeTourneau is 5-3, 1-1 ASC to start the season, and is coming off of a shutout win at Concordia-Texas. Reagan Sandford leads the YelloJackets with 12 points on four goals and four assists. Jennifer Martin is their leading goal scorer with five goals, while Kara Gipson has added four goals. The trio has scored 13 of 16 goals.

SCOUTING ETBU: The Tigers enter the weekend on a three game losing streak, and feature a record of 3-5-1, 0-2 ASC. Three players have two goals to lead ETBU, with Ashleigh Rondon adding three assists to lead the team with seven points.
