Women's Soccer looks to keep pace in ASC

ABILENE, Texas – Despite suffering its first loss of the season last week, McMurry University Women's Soccer still finds itself near the top of the American Southwest Conference standings as it heads back on the road this week.

The War Hawks will visit Sul Ross State University Thursday afternoon before heading to Howard Payne University Saturday. Kickoff for both games is 1 p.m. Live stats and video links can be found at mcmurrysports.com.

NOTES:

LAST WEEK: McMurry split its games at Wilford Moore Stadium last week. The War Hawks dropped a 1-0 contest to UT Dallas before bouncing back with a 2-0 win over University of the Ozarks.

8: The number of shutouts the McM defense has this season, tied for second most in the ASC.

ASC LEADERS: Freshman forward Alyssa Daily continues to lead the ASC in shots (62), points (22) and goals (11). Junior midfielder Sky Reynolds is tied for third with five assists.

TEAM EFFORT: 15 different players have scored a goal for the War Hawks this season. Eight have scored at least two goals. With two goals last Saturday, McMurry broke the single season record of 39 goals, having now scored 41. Their 106 points to date are one shy of the season record of 107.

ASC CLINCH: The War Hawks can secure a berth in the ASC Tournament for the second consecutive year with two wins this week.

FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING: A relatively new series, McMurry is looking for its first win against Sul Ross in its fifth try Thursday.

SCOUTING SRSU: The Lobos enter Thursday's matchup having lost their last three games. Sul Ross is 2-7-3, 1-4-1 ASC, with the lone win over Louisiana College. The Lobos have been shut out five times, and have scored only 11 goals on the season. Aylin Villalobos has nearly half of those goals, with five. Joanna Estrada has chipped in with three goals.

SCOUTING HPU: Howard Payne has won two of their last three games to post a 6-7-1, 2-4 ASC mark. Kiara Moore paces the Yellow Jacket offense with six goals and two assists. Second on the team, Lesly Garcia has tallied four goals.
