Weather ends War Hawks and Wildcats in a tie

PINEVILLE, La. – Despite nearly 95 minutes of action, no goals were scored as McMurry University Women's Soccer played to a 0-0 draw at Louisiana College Saturday afternoon. The match was called after 95 minutes due to weather.

Sophomore goalkeeper Cindy Villasana helped the War Hawks (4-7-1, 2-3-1 ASC) complete their second consecutive shutout, making three saves in net.

The War Hawks had four shots in the overtime period, including two on goal, but were unable to find the back of the net. They held the Wildcats (1-9-1, 0-6-1 ASC) without a shot in the period.

For the match, McMurry outshot the Wildcats 16-7, including 6-3 in shots on goal. The War Hawks had six corner kick opportunities to the Wildcats' three.

McMurry narrowly missed out on two goals, as sophomore defender Angelica Navarro had a shot hit the crossbar in the 13th minute and freshman midfielder Ashland Hansen had a shot hit the post in the 76th minute.

Senior forward Cristen Lumbreras led the War Hawks with seven shots, four on goal.

The War Hawks are back at home Thursday, hosting UT-Dallas at 5 p.m. at Wilford Moore Stadium.
