War Hawks hit road for final time in regular season

ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University Women's Soccer heads out on its final road trip of the regular season this weekend, with visits to American Southwest Conference foes Concordia University Texas and University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Kickoff against the Tornados is scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday while the War Hawks battle the Crusaders Saturday at 5 p.m.

NOTES:

Last Week: The War Hawks split a pair of home games last week, falling 1-0 to UT Dallas before a thrilling 2-1 double overtime win Saturday against Howard Payne.

Game Winner: Sophomore midfielder Calista Flores scored the game-winning goal against Howard Payne with just 1:18 remaining in double overtime.

Defense Impresses: McMurry's defense allowed only one goal to UT Dallas after allowing at least five goals in each of the previous six meetings. The Comets were also held to their lowest shot output of the season. The War Hawks also held Howard Payne to just two shots in the second half and overtime periods combined.

Corner Happy: McMurry attempted 13 corner kicks Saturday, nearly doubling their previous season high of seven.

ASC Standings: McMurry sits in seventh in the ASC standings with 10 points, two points behind LeTourneau ad Concordia Texas. The War Hawks are three points ahead of University of the Ozarks and HPU.

About CUTX: Concordia sits just one spot ahead of the War Hawks in the ASC with 12 points. The Tornados are 5-7, 4-4 ASC on the year. Three players lead the Tornados with four goals apiece.

About UMHB: Mary Hardin-Baylor sits third in the ASC with a 7-1 record, 8-3-2 overall. The Crusaders are currently on a two-game win streak, and led by junior forward Chelsea Graham's nine goals and eight assists. Senior midfielder Madison Link is second on the team with seven goals.
