AUSTIN, Texas – Four players in double-figure scoring was not enough for the McMurry University men's basketball team, losing its season-finale on the road at Concordia University-Texas, 102-82. It was also the final game for War Hawks seniors
Chris Cerny and
Blake Cochran.
The Tornados – seed No. 2 for the West Division in next week's ASC tournament – never trailed in the contest. The War Hawks fell to 3-22 with its youthful roster, while CUTX improved to 15-10.
Leading McM's scoring was
Nate Estrada with 19 points. Estrada hit 6-of-10, including 5-for-9 from beyond the arc, and was 2-for-3 from the charity stripe. He also had four rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Cerny had 15 points, dialing up four buckets from long distance, on a 5-of-13 effort from the floor. Cerny grabbed three boards and passed off for two assists.
Sophomore
LaRandall Scroggins had a double-double of 14 points and a game-leading 12 rebounds, to go along with two blocks. It was Scroggins' fifth double-double of the season and the only War Hawk to register a double-double in 2015-16.
McM's fourth double-figure scorer was freshman point guard
Calvin McGee, chipping in 10 points, along with six rebounds and four assists.
Gabriel Chacon and
Cameron Jackson each added six points off the War Hawks' bench, with
Aaron Gettys tallying five.
Ti Kendricks and
Zachary Campbell had three and two points, respectively. Cochran had two points and three steals, making the game's – and season's - final bucket.
