TYLER, Texas –  McMurry University men's basketball found itself down by double-digits midway through the first half and was never able to make up any ground in an 82-56 loss at the Herrington Patriot Center. The loss left the War Hawks with a 4-4 overall record and 2-2 in the American Southwest Conference, while the Patriots improved to 6-3, 3-1 in the ASC.

For all intents and purposes, UTT had the game in the proverbial refrigerator by the first half with a 48-14 lead at the break.  The Patriots shot a blistering 58 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes, while the War Hawks were mired in a 5-26 shooting slump (19 percent).

For the game, McM shot 27 percent (18-68) from the field.  UTT hit 48 percent overall (27-56) from the floor, while also converting 22-of-27 free throws.

The War Hawks were out-rebounded by a 43-36 margin.

Darius Watts was McM's only player to reach double-figure scoring with 10 points. Watts did not reach double figures until 7:43 left in the game when he canned a trey to make it 79-45. Among is totals were a pair of three-point baskets.
