BELTON, Texas – The McMurry University women's soccer team ran into a buzz saw on the road, losing to the American Southwest Conference's second place team, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, 7-0.
The War Hawks fell to 1-10 overall and 1-5 in the ASC. The Crusaders improved to 8-2-1 on the year and are now 5-0 in the league.
The two teams were locked in a relatively close 2-0 battle in the first half, after UMHB tallied in the 2nd and 44th minutes. But the wheels came off in the second stanza, with the Cru netting five goals.
The host Cru took 35 total shots, 18 on-goal. The youthful War Hawks did not register a shot, as three UMHB goalkeepers combined on the shutout.
Freshman goalie
Jordan Gregory had had 11 saves and was charged with six goals in the 83-minutes of work.
Simone Heinle finished up in the nets for McM and gave up one goal.
The War Hawks continued the weekend road trip with a match at Concordia University-Texas in Austin on Saturday.
