Box Score

ABILENE, Texas – McMurry women's tennis ran into a buzz saw on Friday, falling to perennial power Oklahoma Christian University, 8-1, in a match played at the ACU indoor courts. The setback dropped McMurry to 1-2 on the young season.

The War Hawks' lone win came at No. 6 singles from Autumn Patterson. Patterson defeated OC's Rebeca Aguilar Dominguez, 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) in a grueling match. The win was Patterson's first in two singles matches contested this season.

The Eagles won the Nos. 1-5 singles bouts in straight sets. Taking losses for McM were, in order, Lauren Renner, Dana LeMieux, Jessica Bentley, Salitza Abrantes and Brandy Curry. Curry lost a tough first set, 7-5, before falling 6-3 in the second.

OC also swept all three doubles competitions.

McMurry returns to action on Saturday, traveling to the Bush Tennis Center in Midland for matches versus Heartland Conference foe UT-Permian Basin (10 a.m.) and Sul Ross State (1 p.m.).
