Marathon Match For Women’s Soccer Ends In 0-0 Tie

ABILENE, Texas – A full 90 minutes and two overtimes could not separate the McMurry University women's soccer team from the University of the Southwest as the two programs played to a 0-0 tie on Friday night in Abilene.

In the first half, both defenses played very tough as only five total shots were taken in the frame. McMurry came away from the first half with two shots on goal, while USW managed just one. It was the same story in the second half, with chances coming few and far between for both teams as the two programs entered overtime still scoreless.

In the first overtime, McMurry had the best chance of the night to score the winning goal as Holiday Williams launched a shot from 30 yards out that hit the cross bar to keep the game scoreless. Neither team would register a shot in the second overtime and the game ended in a stalemate, 0-0.

Rachel Moore led the way for the War Hawks with three total shots and Aleria Luna added two on the day. Keeper Chanel Felder recorded her first shutout of the season while making three saves in 110 minutes.

The War Hawks will be back in action on Sunday, September 16 when they take on the Tigers of East Central University. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. kick-off.
