War Hawks record second highest win total in McMurry history beating LC, 5-2

ABILENE, Texas – Four different players scored for McMurry University on its way to a 5-2 victory against Louisiana College in American Southwest Conference action Friday afternoon at Edwards Field. The win moves the War Hawks to 3-5 on the season, which marks the second highest win total in McMurry history behind the 2006 season when they won five matches.
 
The War Hawks outshot the Wildcats 32-11 landing 15 of the 32 on goal. Kristen Grant scored her third and fourth goals of the season. Her first of the match came in the 34th minute, she came out of a mass of players from both teams with ball and put it past the Wildcats goalie. Her second goal of the contest came in the 88th minute of the match on a penalty kick.
 
Addison Tate scored the game winner came off of a Paige Harwell cross after a foul and was able to head the ball in the back of the net in the 61st minute of the match. Harwell scored her own goal in the 54th minute of the match on a penalty kick. Rachel Moore scored her third goal of the season in the 64th minute with Grant providing the assist.
 
LC scored the first goal of the match in the 20th minute of the match when Kegan Keleman beat the War Hawks goalie as she came out of the box. The Wildcats added a second goal in the 83rd minute off the foot of Bailey Williams, assist coming from Morgan Burlew.
 
McMurry goalie Makenzie Hargrove recorded two saves on the afternoon and allowed the two LC goals. Of the War Hawks 32 shots 23 of them came in the second half of the match. Moore took 13 shots for McMurry landing six on goal and recorded one goal. Grant used four shots on goal to record her two goals.
 
The win moves McMurry to 3-5 on the season and 2-3 in ASC action. The loss takes the Wildcats to 0-10 on the year and 0-5 in ASC play. The War Hawks play Saturday, 2 p.m. at Edwards Field against Mississippi College.
