CLARKSVILLE, Arkansas - McMurry University wins its third straight American Southwest Conference game over the University of the Ozarks Thursday night 61-46.
Jamie Wilson recorded 13 points in 23 minutes off the bench for the War Hawks.
McMurry shot 36 percent from the floor and hit nine three point buckets.
Keshia Collins recorded 13 points, six assists, and five rebounds in the game. The War Hawks outrebounded the Eagles 47-41 in the win.
McMurry started the game from behind surrendering four free throw shots in the first minute of the game. After the teams traded baskets making the score 6-2, McMurry exploded for a 24-6 run over a 12 minute span capped off by one of Collins' three, three point buckets with 6:48 remaining in the half.
With 23 seconds remaining in the half the War Hawks captured their largest lead of the first half, 16, after a Wilson three pointer. McMurry took a 14-point lead into the locker room after giving up two free throws.
The War Hawks continued rolling in the second half starting with a 14-4 run ending with a Collins three pointer with 10:31 remaining. The Eagles answered with a 16-6 run, but the first half lead proved too much for the Ozarks to overcome. McMurry held on to win by 15.
McMurry recorded 18 points off of turnovers 17-second chance points. The War Hawks took the lead with 15:41 remaining after a two point bucket by
M.J. Vickers and did not trail the rest of the game.
The win moves McMurry to 4-1 overall and a perfect 3-0 in ASC action. The loss drops the Ozarks to 3-3 overall with a 1-2 record in conference play. The War Hawks remain on the road and will face Texas-Dallas Saturday at 1 p.m. in Richardson.
