ABILENE, Texas – Schreiner University scored in the 51
st minute of the match to beat McMurry University 1-0 in American Southwest Conference play Friday afternoon at Edwards Field. The loss takes McMurry to 2-8 in ASC play and 3-10 overall.
McMurry took a total of 13 shots landing six on goal;
Addison Tate and
Kristen Grant each landed three on goal. Goalie Makenzie Hargrove recorded seven saves on the afternoon allowing the one Mountaineer goal. Schreiner's goalie Lizeth De La Torre saved six shots including a diving stop in the 76
th minute of the match when McMurry's Grant had a one-on-one opportunity.
Schreiner's Amanda Moon took a shot in the 51
st minute that hit the crossbar bouncing right back to her feet and was able to beat the War Hawks goalie on her second attempt.
The win moves Schreiner to 3-12 overall and 2-8 in ASC action. The War Hawks will face the Bulldogs of Texas Lutheran University Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. This will be McMurry's final home game of the season.
