BROWNWOOD, Texas – Howard Payne shutout the McMurry University War Hawks Saturday in American Southwest Conference soccer action taking a 6-0 victory at home. Shannon Costello scored two goals to help lead the Yellow Jackets in the win.

HPU improved to 7-4 overall and 6-3 in league play with the win while McMurry fell to 4-9 overall and 2-7 in conference play.

The Yellow Jackets scored three goals in each half and took 32 shots on the afternoon. Amanda Jenkins scored in the seventh minute, Leslie Jones added a goal in the 27th, Costello scored in the 39th and 52nd minutes, Erica Lopez had a goal in the 79th, and Allison Harp rounded out he scoring in the 81st minute with a goal.

The War Hawks managed just three shots on the afternoon. McMurry sustained several season-ending injuries throughout the years, and the War Hawks used their backup goal keepers as their only two subs for the contest.

McMurry returns to action Friday at home against Schreiner at 1 p.m.
