Injury plagued War Hawks fall to UMHB in double overtime, 3-2

BELTON, Texas –An injury riddled McMurry University surrenders a goal in double overtime to fall to Mary Hardin-Baylor 3-2 in American Southwest Conference action Friday afternoon in Belton. The War Hawks were able to only use one sub on the afternoon due to an injury-plagued season.
 
Kristen Grant tied the game at one in the 10th minute of the match taking a pass from Addison Tate and finding the back of the net in the upper right corner. Grant added an assist in the 55th minute of the match passing to Paige Harwell who found the net in the upper left corner to take a 2-1 advantage.
 
McMurry held the lead until Kristyn Rhorick tied the game at two finding the top left corner of the goal. In the first overtime of the contest McMurry goalie Makenzie Hargrove saved three shots to keep the score knotted at two. In the 117th minute of the match Taylor Bullock scored the game winner off an assist from Lexy Smith.
 
The loss takes McMurry to 3-8 on the season and 2-6 in ASC play. Mary Hardin-Baylor moves to 4-8-1 on the season and 4-5 in ASC action. The War Hawks continue their road trip Saturday at 1 p.m. in Brownwood against Howard Payne University.
