ABILENE, Texas – Mary Hardin-Baylor defeated McMurry's women 5-1 to move one game above .500 for the season Friday afternoon at Edwards Field. The Lady Crusaders moved to 6-5-1 overall and 5-3-1 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory.
UMHB's Taylor Bullock scored the first two goals of the match for the Lady Cru before Lexy Smith, Meredith Morgan and Jordan Powers all added goals for insurance. McMurry's only goal came in the 51st minute when
Rachel Moore scored on a thru ball pass from
Miranda Nguyen down the center of the field and Moore beat UMHB's goalie to the ball and knocked it in.
However, the match belonged to the Lady Crusaders who outshot the hosts 35-6. UMHB went to intermission with a 4-0 lead before the teams locked a 1-1 tie in the second period. In addition to her goal in the 67th minute, Powers also assisted Bullock's goal in the seventh minute and Norman's goal in the 44th minute.
Meredith West collected two saves in the win at goalie for UMHB while McMurry's Hillary Chambers had six saves and
Bianca Van Osdol had two.
McMurry fell to 2-10 overall and 2-6 in league play.
