ABILENE, Texas - The University of the Southwest dominated McMurry on its home field Saturday with an 8-0 victory at Edwards Field. The Mustangs' Cassandra Ruiz, Kacee Evans and Sunny Evans all had two goals apiece in the win.
Ruiz scored the first two goals of the match and provided three assists on goals for her teammates later in the match. The sisters, Kacee and Sunne each scored consecutive goals respectively to help USW jump out to a 6-0 lead. Kacee Evans also recorded three assists on the afternoon.
Carmen Medina and Natalie Martinez scored the last two goals for the Mustangs. Mcmurry managed just 10 shots and three on goal while USW had 21 total shots and 12 on goal. All eight goals for the Mustangs were assisted.
McMurry's women fell to 0-2 on the season and are still looking to snap a 30-match winless streak. McMurry is 0-27-3 in its last 30 matches and hasn't won a game since the 2006 season season finale when the team defeated Howard Payne 3-2 Oct. 28, 2006. The team returns to action Friday in Dallas when it takes on the University of Dallas at 2 p.m.
