ABILENE, Texas - McMurry surrendered two goals in the first 3:03 of the contest and the University of the Southwest held of McMurry's rally to win 3-2 at Edwards Field Saturday afternoon.

Callum Congreve scored consecutive goals just 1:25 apart to open the game to gain monumental momentum early in the match. He scored on a free kick after a McMurry foul just 1:38 into the contest, and then in a blink of an eye, his teammate, Victor Valle, set him up on a corner kick in which Congreve headed the ball in the net for an early 2-0 lead.

McMurry tightened up its game and scored with 19 seconds remaining in the first half. Travis Allen picked up his first goal of the season on an assist from Rogelio Arredondo.

McMurry made a strong effort to tie the game in the final 7:36 of the match. McMurry took the final four shots of the game including Humberto Sepulveda's shot on goal in the 88th minute. However, the Mustangs' David Metcalfe saved the shot to seal the game.

Metcalfe finished with seven saves. McMurry split goalie duties between Matt Mouer who allowed the two first half goals and recorded three saves while Collin Bowersock allowed Meyers' goal and saved two shots of his own.

McMurry outshot USW 19-11 and had nine shots on goal compared to the Mustangs' eight. USW played rough tallying 16 fouls and in the last seconds of the game, Esteban Loya and Valle were ejected for misconduct that nearly caused an altercation between both teams.
