UT-Tyler defeats McMurry's women, 6-0

ABILENE - UT-Tyler's women scored three goals in each half to go on to defeat McMurry University 6-0 in Americans Southwest Conference play Saturday afternoon at Edwards Field.

Six different players scored for the Lady Patriots and the first came just 40 seconds into the match when Summer Werner scored unassisted to give UTT an early 1-0 lead.

From there, Emily Bechdol scored in the 19th minute on an assist from Leah Solomon and Kendall Kramer scored in the 39th minute from teammate Amanda Thomas.

In the second half, Lauren Thomas scored just 33 seconds into the second period on an unassisted goal. Then, Analiz Medina scored in the 52nd minute on an unassisted goal and Alina K. DeAvilla scored with 1:03 remaining in the contest for the sixth and final goal of the match.

UTT fired 39 shots including 18 on goal. McMurry's Jessica Ramirez allowed five goals but saved seven and Bianca Van Osdol played the final 38:50 allowing just one goal and saved five shots.

The Lady Patriots used three different goalies to combine for the shutout with starter Sam Fraser getting the decision. Lauren Hufham had the only save of the match for UTT turning away Amber Torres' shot. Torres had two of McMurry's three shots and Courtney Danna had the other.

McMurry fell to 0-6-1 overall and 0-3-1 overall while UT-Tyler improved to 5-3 overall and moved to 3-1 in the ASC. McMurry returns to action Thursday in Richardson with a match against UT-Dallas at 5 p.m.
