Late goal forces McMurry to draw with LeTourneau

LONGVIEW - LeTourneau's Dillon Holt scored off a header on a free kick in the 88th minute to eventually force a 1-1 tie against McMurry in American Southwest Conference action Saturday afternoon.

McMurry's Humberto Sepulveda scored his third goal of the season in the 55th minute to give McMurry the lead in the second half. Sepulveda beat three defenders and the goalkeeper to score unassisted.

However, the Yellow Jackets' game-tying goal came with just 2:41 remaining in regulation. Following a foul by McMurry, Ben Stoeckmann used a cross on a free kick and Holt was able to put it past McMurry goalkeeper Collin Bowersock to knot the score.

In the first overtime, LeTourneau managed three shots but none were on goal and McMurry wasn't able to get a shot off. In the second overtime, each team shot the ball three times, however, McMurry came close to taking the victory with its shots.

IN the 107th minute, Sheharyar Khan's header was blocked. Just 24 seconds later, McMurry's Miguel Rodriguez took a shot that hit the goal post and Tyler Grist took the final shot of the game with 43 seconds left, which LeTourneau's goalie, Kyle Davis saved.

Davis finished with six saves while Bowersock had three. McMurry out-shot the Yellow Jackets 27-17. McMurry recorded 22 fouls in the match compared to LeTourneau's 11 and the visitors had 11 corner-kick opportunities while the Yellow Jackets had four.

McMurry moved to 2-3-1 overall and moved to 0-1-1 in league play while LeTourneau moved to 2-1-2 overall and 0-1-1 in ASC competition.

McMurry will play host to Concordia- Texas at 4 p.m. Friday at Edwards Field for another ASC match.
