ABILENE, Texas – Texas Lutheran scored five first-half goals and went to shutout McMurry 6-0 Friday afternoon at Edwards Field. Kaysie Boomhower scored two goals and had an assist to help lead the Bulldogs to their fourth American Southwest Conference victory.
Boomhower had a hand in TLU's first three goals. She scored in the 10th minute on an assist from Rachel Schafer, then she assisted Cami Griffin's goal in the 13th minute and then scored her second goal in the 22nd minute off the deflection of her own shot. She finished with 13 total shots and five on goal.
Kristin Meloni crossed a pass from the far corner in the 26th minute, however, the cross deflected off a McMury player and went into the goal to help TLU extend its lead to 4-0. Lauren Brehm scored the final goal of the half for the Bulldgos in the 38th minute on an assist from Marlena Ashby.
In the second half, Meloni scored unassisted for the match's final goal and TLU increased its lead to six. The Bulldogs improved to 4-4-2 in the ASC and moved to 6-6-3 overall and McMurry fell to 0-14-1 overall and dropped to 0-11-1 in league play.
McMurry will play its final regular season match Saturday at 1 p.m. against Schreiner at Edwards Field.
