Louisiana College beats McMurry's men, 3-1

ABILENE, Texas—Louisiana College scored two late goals Saturday afternoon to defeat McMurry 3-1.  The Wildcats were lead by Felipe' Escobedo who recorded two goals and an assist on the final goal scored by Doug Jackson.   

McMurry's lone goal came in the 58th minute when Michael Laffey's foul kick from thirty yards out found the back of the net.  Laffey also recorded four shots with two on goal. 

Escobedo's first goal came in the 38th minute of the contest.  His second was lobbed over the head of McMurry's goalie Collin Bowersock into an empty net in the 75th minute.  The Wildcats then finished off McMurry in the 87th minute when Jackson received a cross from Escobedo and one timed it into the goal. 

Bowersock saved seven shots in the loosing effort for McMurry.  McMurry out shot Louisiana 20-17 lead by Laffey and Michael LaBelle with four shots apiece.  McMurry also had two shots hit the cross bar.  Louisiana's goalie Joe Saverino matched Bowersocks effort with seven saves.   

The loss moved McMurry to 2-7-5 overall and 0-5-3 in league play.  For Louisiana this was their first win of the season moving them to 1-13 overall and 1-6 in league play. 

McMurry will face cross-town rival Hardin-Simmons Saturday October 17 in Abilene at HSU.
