McMurry dominates Sul Ross, 89-52

McMurry's defense got steals on 21 of Sul Ross State's 27 turnovers in McMurry's convincing 89-52 victory here Saturday afternoon in American Southwest Conference women's basketball.

McMurry dominated the visitors in the first half, taking a lead of 46-15 at intermission after Sul Ross State's 20 turnovers in the first period.  The win improves McMurry's records to 18-3 overall and 15-2 in ASC play.

Sul Ross State falls to 6-14 overall and 5-12 in league paly.

Tara Richardson led McMurry's balanced scoring attack with 15 points, and Erica Peters added 10.  Coming off the bench to add to McMurry's offense were Allison Nelson with 12 points and Callie Williams with 10 points.  Richardson also led the winners with six rebounds.  Thirteen McMurry players contributed to head coach Veronica Snow's offense.  Amber Horton and Dominique Brown each had five steals for the winners.

Nitra Woods led SRSU with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

McMurry will return to action Thursday when it plays host to Schreiner.
