Perez scores two goals in McM's first ASC win

McMurry used two goals from Marcos Perez and scores from Brett Brown and Rodrigo Chiquini to pick up its first American Southwest Conference win of the season Saturday with a 4-1 victory over Concordia-Texas at Edwards Field. McMurry led 2-1 at half and then scored two second-half goals to win its second game of the season.

Chiquini scored in the 13th minute of the contest off a corner kick by Nathan Perschke. The Tornados countered with a Lyle Dixon score in the 26th minute. However, Perez scored seven minutes and 19 seconds later on an assist from Christopher Ryan to lead 2-1 at intermission.

Brown scored his first goal of the season on a corner kick from Sheharyar Khan five minutes into the second half. Perez poked through his fourth goal of the season in the 77th minute on an unassisted goal.

McMurry and Concordia played a rough game with 25 fouls called combined. McMurry had 13 fouls, but the Tornados were charged with six yellow cards. McMurry had one yellow card and Perez was ejected in the second half after his goal.

McMurry improved to 2-4-1 on the season overall and is now 1-4-1 in the ASC. Concordia fell to 2-7 on the season and 0-6 in the ASC.
